Our Directors and senior management have extensive experience within the retail property sector, spanning a number of decades. We are some of the industry’s longest serving, having worked in the retail property sector since the early 1980’s. Our experience gives our clients an unrivalled market position to that of our competitors.
Cameron Henshaw
Managing Director
Cameron has specialised in the commercial market for close to 20 years. He has worked on some of the largest LFR assets and developments in Australia, including working closely with Australia’s leading Retail tenants, cementing long lasting relationships in this sector.
He prides himself on the ability to deliver highly successful results and personal service which aligns with his clients objectives.
Cameron further undertakes the management of the day to day business as Managing Director within Retail Projex, including working closely with the Head of Property Management, Mathew Whittaker, to ensure the performance of the management of our valued clients properties.
Dale McDermid
Director
Dale has more than 30 years’ experience in the retail investment property industry, having managed and driven asset strategy for hundreds of shopping centres across Australia, South East Asia and The Middle East. During this time, Dale has been a major owner of many of the businesses whilst also investing in value adding retail property opportunities.
Dale’s experience as a business owner ensures that he strives for long term and above average performance for his clients and teams.
His ability to think like an owner, complemented with his leadership experience and people management ensures the delivery of above average long-term outcomes and results for clients and their centres.
Tony Draper
Director
Tony has a long history within the Australian Retail Property Market.
His family developed the first integrated Homemaker Centres in Australia, establishing the HomeBase brand with three LFR centres in Prospect NSW and Aspley and Jindalee in QLD.
Tony began his own business in 1997, a boutique agency offering leasing, management & development advice to the retailer sector. This was further developed in 2002 with Dale McDermid spearheading the retail management, managing a wide range of Retail and LFR assets across the east coast of Australia, which was sold in 2014.
Tony has over 25 years’ experience in the Retail Property industry. His role at Retail Projex is to oversee the leasing functions of the business and offer strategic property advice to our clients.
Mathew Whittaker
Head of Property Management
Mathew Whittaker brings over 25 years of experience in the property industry, with a strong focus on retail property leasing, commercial property management, sales, and asset strategy.
His career has been shaped by key roles at QIC, McKenzie Hall, and Colliers International, where he developed deep expertise across both leasing and management disciplines—particularly within retail shopping centres and large format retail.
Known for his pragmatic and collaborative approach, Mathew is passionate about aligning property strategies with business objectives and enhancing customer experience through sustainable asset management.
Steven Thuaux
Head of Leasing
Steven Thuaux has over 40 years experience in retail having worked for major landlords and retailers with expertise in Leasing, Investment/Asset management, Feasibility Studies, Acquisitions, Financial management, Negotiation, and Property Management.
Steven has a strong retail background with strengths in Leadership, negotiation, mentoring and developing people to reach their potential, leading large and small teams to deliver results for clients and stakeholders.
Prior to joining Retail Projex, Steven held key leadership property roles at Kmart Group as the Head of Leasing, AMP Capital Investors as the Head of Retail Asset Management, and Byvan in centre management/Leasing.
